Relashionship between Antonio and Bassonio

3) Analyze the relationship between Bassanio and Antonio. What is going on between them? What is the nature of their feelings toward one another? Please provide quote(s) from the text to support your position as well as its Kindle location(s).
      To be perfectly candid I belive that bassanio and Antonio have quite the complex relationship ship going on, I think it's a bit of a soap opera affair. Antonio is the rich man that seems to have his life figured out, he is a well established merchant that has got it all going on. On the other hand Bassanio is a young broke indebted man that just wants to find the person that can benefit his life and make it the best that it can be at any given moment.  So at this point in young ambitious Bassanio's life this person has been Antonio, Antonio has been Basanio's "sugar daddy" so to speak this is shown in the beginning of the play.
        "BASSANIO:
        To you, Antonio,
         I owe the most, in money and in love;
         And from your love I have a warranty
         To unburden all my plots and purposes
         How to get clear of all the debts I owe." (Loc. 2445)
       This quote near the beginning of the play Shakespeare shows that Bassanio seems kind of manipulative and that the it is not the first time he has borrowed money from Antonio, to which Antonio responds:
        ANTONIO:
        I pray you, good Bassanio, let me know it;
        And if it stand, as you yourself still do,
  • Within the eye of honour, be assur'd
    My purse, my person, my extremest means,
    Lie all unlock'd to your occasions. (Loc. 2445)

           I think that this quote shows that Bassanio is taking advantage of Antonio, and how Antonio feels about him. This quote shows that Antonio has feelings for Bassanio, but bassanio does not seem to have the same feelings for him because the reason that bassanio wants the money is to woo Porsha. In conclusion I think that Bassanio is just taking advantage of what Antonio is willing to do for him, I think that Bassanio took it too far when he took out the loan with Antonio's credit, because the feelings that Antonio has are not mutual and i have a feeling Bassanio is not going to pay off the debt and Shylock is going to take a pund of poor oblivious Antonio's flesh and Antonio might very well die from loosing a pund of flesh.

Is Shakespeare Relevent?

Is Shakespeare's work still relevant to us today (is it still relevant for us to study Shakespeare)? If so, how is it relevant? If not, why is it not relevant?

I think that Shakespeare's work is still verry relevant, especially for us to study. It is important for many reasons, for one as Mr. Johnathan pointed out and as I'm sure many people have noticed it is referenced all over the place and if you have studied it you can understand references sometimes there are little jokes in things that you only understand if you have studied the material. It is also important because we can use Shakespeare's writings to learn more about the English language of hs time, and we can see where some of the words we use today came from. In the video they told us about some of the words that Shakespeare made up, and alot of them are still used today (eyeball, alligator, and assassination). Some may argue that we could just use no fear Shakespeare, but in doing this you can loose some of the things that are most important about Shakespeare's works, and things that he is trying to say are lost in the translation, so to speak. So in conclusion I think that studying Shakespeare is extremely relevant and important.
